The University of New Mexico Physics and Astronomy REU Program
For best consideration, apply by February 10. Offers will be made as soon after Feb. 13 as possible. We will adhere to the Physics REU common deadline (which will be around March 1, 2023) for students to accept or decline first-round offers.

This program's highest priority is to serve underserved populations in the Southwestern states. Therefore preference will be given to women and minority applicants from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. However, well-qualified students of any demographic nationwide are also encouraged to apply.
Students should be enrolled in a U.S. college or university in good academic standing and attending the fall semester following the summer program. Preference will be given to students beginning at least their junior year. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the USA. Accepted students must complete the ten-week program and all requirements, including working typically M-F 9 am-5 pm, attending seminars, and giving presentations.
The 10-week program begins with an orientation in mid-May 2023 and runs until the end of July 2023. You must have your own health insurance, as it is not provided by the program.
