Research Experiences for Undergraduates
The University of New Mexico Physics and Astronomy REU Program
Begin or Continue Application
For best consideration, apply by February 10. Offers will be made as soon after Feb. 13 as possible. We will adhere to the Physics REU common deadline (which will be around March 1) for students to accept or decline first-round offers.
If you are beginning your application, please first read the material on this page. Then provide your email address and create a password in the fields below, and check the box to register. To continue an already-begun application, enter your email and password.
Please make a note of your password -- if it is lost, you will have to start over on your application with a new email.
We give preference to students who may not have research opportunities at their home institutions.
You should be enrolled in a U.S. college or university in good academic standing and attending the fall semester following the summer program. Per NSF rules, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of the USA. If you are accepted, you must complete the ten-week program and all requirements, including working typically M-F 9 am-5 pm, attending seminars, and giving presentations.
The 10-week program begins with an orientation in mid-May and runs until the end of July. You must have your own health insurance, as it is not provided by the program.
